Amethyst with Calcite, Artigas, Uruguay

An extraordinary large-scale amethyst specimen from Artigas, Uruguay, a locality renowned for producing some of the world’s finest amethyst geodes.

The specimen features an expansive natural cavity densely covered in deep violet amethyst crystals, creating a brilliant surface that comes alive under changing light. The rich purple interior is framed by the geode’s natural banded agate and quartz border, providing a beautiful contrast in color and texture.

Rising prominently from the center is a large elongated calcite crystal, creating a dramatic focal point against the surrounding purple amethyst. Its warm cream-to-yellow coloration stands in striking contrast to the deep violet crystals and gives the specimen a distinctive character.

The specimen is presented on a substantial custom-made metal display stand with integrated adjustable lighting. The elevated presentation transforms the piece into a natural sculpture, while the lighting highlights the depth, luster, and countless reflective crystal faces throughout the cavity.

With its monumental scale and impressive physical presence, this specimen bridges the worlds of fine mineral collecting and sculptural natural décor. Its combination of saturated Uruguayan amethyst, contrasting calcite, natural agate banding, and custom presentation makes it equally compelling in a significant mineral collection or as a statement piece for a luxury residence, office, hotel, gallery, or commercial interior.
